- Summary
- Dr. Lamin O. Sanneh, Professor of Missions and World Christianity at Yale Divinity School, New Haven, Conn., delivers a lecture about the events of the Revolutionary War, in particular, antislavery efforts and actions of blacks themselves many of whom enlisted on the British side and were demobilized at the end of war. Over Washington's strong objections and under British supervision, they were discharged in New York and repatriated to Nova Scotia, Canada. Eventually in 1792 some 1190 of them sailed to Freetown, Sierra Leonne, where, at the source of the slave trade, they established a base for the antislavery and missionary movement
