- Known only from this fragment at the New-York Historical Society, evidently from v. 3 of the three volume edition of the Works of the celebrated John Wilkes, proposed by Gaine in his New-York gazette of Jan. 2, 1769. According to the proposals, "The books will be printed in a month's time, and delivered to the subscribers immediately afterwards. The paper for this edition was manufactured, and all the printing performed in this country."
- According to an advertisement in the New-York gazette of May 29, 1769, "This day are published, in three volumes (price eighteen shillings), the Works of the celebrated John Wilkes, Esq; ... The paper for this edition was manufactured, and all the printing performed in this country."
- Evans suggests that the three volumes were issued under the imprint "London: Printed for J. Williams in Fleet-Street. 1768, " the present fragment falling after p. 204 of v. 3
- "Advertisemdnt [sic]. the reigns of King William and Queen Anne are in the press, and will speedily be published."--p. [35]
